Based on the DC Comics title, published by DC Entertainment, this hourlong drama is a modern retelling of the legendary DC Comics character Green Arrow. Stephen Amell stars in the title role. The project, which also counts Paul Blackthorne, Jamey Sheridan, David Ramsey, Colin Donnell, Katie Cassidy and Willa Holland among its cast, hails from pilot season heavyweight Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg. David Nutter directed the pilot, which is set up at Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Story revolves around a young woman, to be played by Cassidy, confronting her destructive mental illness using the Siamese Burn, an experimental machine designed to eliminate multiple personalities. Pic is based on the graphic novel by Daniel Schaffer, with John Suits on board to helm from Schaffer’s adaptation.

Cast already includes Garret Dillahunt, Michelle Trachtenberg, Eliza Dushku, Gina Gershon, Michael Imperioli, Billy Campbell and Sasha Grey.

Film is a co-production between New Arts Alliance and Caliber Media with production currently under way in Los Angeles. Gabriel Cowan will produce alongside NightSky productions Ken F. Levin.

Cassidy’s credits include “Taken” and “Monte Carlo.” She is repped by CAA and Anonymous Content.

After being marooned for five years on a remote island, former billionaire playboy Oliver Queen returns with a mysterious agenda and a lethal set of new skills that he uses in a war on crime.

Canadian actor Stephen Amell (Hung, The Vampire Diaries, 90210) will portray the title role, as well as his alter ego — reformed bad boy and billionaire Oliver Queen. Katie Cassidy (Supernatural, Gossip Girl) stars as the show’s female lead Dinah Laurel Lance — also known to comics fans as the second Black Canary — a lawyer with the City Necessary Resources Initiative. Willow Holland (The O.C.) will play Thea Queen, Oliver’s celebutante younger sister who has a rebellious streak. Colin Donnell (Pan Am) will play Tommy Merlyn, Oliver’s best friend, a trust fund playboy who hopes to resume the good times now that Oliver has returned.

We’ve now received notice through multiple sources that The CW, who optioned the pilot last year in hopes of filling the superhero gap left by Smallville’s finale, has picked up the show to run during it’s Fall 2012 season. One source stated that rough cuts of the pilot episode were well received by network execs, who believe it will garner a very positive audience response. There’s no word yet how many episodes have been ordered, or when the show will begin to air. When asked to officially confirm this information, a representative for The CW stated that they have not solidified decisions regarding our fall line up at this time; but earlier reported have cited they are scheduled to reveal their selections later this month.

ARROW is executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and David Nutter, who is directing, from a teleplay by Kreisberg & Guggenheim, story by Berlanti & Guggenheim. Melissa Kellner Berman is co-executive producer.

This pick up has not been announced officially by The CW yet, but let’s keep our fingers crossed it turns out to be true!

The alumna of Supernatural, Melrose Place and Gossip Girl has been cast as Dinah “Laurel” Lance, a young attorney with the City Necessary Resources Initiative who shares a romantic past with Green Arrow’s alter ego, Oliver Queen (played by Stephen Amell).

The Arrow pilot is being exec-produced and penned by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg, and directed by David Nutter (Dark Angel, Smallville).

The cast also includes Once & Again‘s Susanna Thompson as Oliver’s mom and Dexter‘s David Ramsey as an ex-military/special forces type now working in private security for Oliver.

Just like the rest of us folks, the “Gossip Girl” guest star slacks off on her exercise routine during the busy, party-packed holiday season. Healthy Hollywood gets it, but suggests trying to squeeze in a few mini workouts – your mind and body will thank you. “Try to get the gym – even if it’s a 20 minute cardio session. Allow yourself to enjoy the yummy food, but don’t go overboard. Portion control,” adds Katie.

Katie, who understands the importance of staying in shape, is an avid runner, who likes to add kettle bells into her workout regimen to strengthen her core and legs. Yet, to balance things out, the 25-year old has also gotten into yoga to tone and lengthen. Plus, it’s a great mind/body regimen that not only works up a sweat, but also helps shed any holiday stress.

Healthy Hollywood met up with the athletically-minded actress at a recent Under Armour event in New York City to launch their Women 2012 collection. Katie joined celebrity trainer Gunnar Peterson to chat about their favorite fitness tips and of course, dish about what’s hot in workout gear.

To show off her trim and tone figure, Katie favors the Under Armour collection. “Under Armour is seriously the most comfortable workout gear I own. Not only that, they look awesome. I think as long as you feel good, you’ll look good,” states Katie. These days, all women, famous or not, often find themselves wearing their workout gear outside the gym to run errands or just lounge around the house.

Plus, a cute workout outfit is always a nice present to find under the Christmas tree. “This year, it’s all about the perfect fit and eye-catching colors,” reveals Adrienne Lofton Shaw, a marketing executive with Under Armour. “Women are more confident and driven than ever right now, and aren’t afraid to show it by wearing super-flattering silhouettes and strong colors that are tailored to their bold lifestyles,” adds Adrienne. “I don’t wear red lipstick often, but I went to this event for In Style a few years ago and I had a lot going on — a bright red lipstick and smoky eyes. And I wore this leopard-print outfit. I should have toned it down!” the Gossip Girl actress told Us Weekly at the Under Armour Spring 2012 Women’s Event in NYC Wednesday.

“But it was a couple of years ago, and I’ve learned my lesson!” she added, saying, “I learned that you have to keep your makeup really subtle if you’re wearing a bright lip color. It’s tough, but girls just need to be confident and trust that they’re sexy and beautiful and can pull it off.”

To avoid lipstick overload, the 25-year-old relied on Clinique Chubby Sticks ($15 each, clinique.com) for a pop of color on her pout. “They’re amazing. They have really fun, juicy colors and I love that they’re really moisturizing at the same time.”

The brunette beauty also opened up to Us about how she maintains her long and lean figure: tons of Vinyasa Flow yoga, running, kettlebell workouts and weight lifting. But to avoid style missteps at the gym, the right workout gear is pretty important to her.

“I literally cannot stand the armpit fat that you get when you wear a sports bra,” she stressed to Us. “I’m always tucking it in! But right now I’m wearing Under Armour’s new Armour Bra (available in 2012) and it’s so comfortable. It’s customized to how you’re built so you don’t get any of that when you’re working out! I’m wearing their new workout pants too — they’re amazing. The legging ones are great because you can just slip on a pair of boots. I’m heading straight to the airport right now and will fly in these.”

“I try to do everything, and change it up because doing the same routine gets so boring, but I do a lot of yoga, Vinyasa flow,” Katie said before jumping into the Drenched workout NYC-based trainer Keoni Hudoba was teaching at the event. “What you put into is what you get out. I do a lot of core work and cardio. I used to run a lot more than I do know but my hip stared hurting and my IT band, so doing yoga along with that and stretching your body, elongating your muscles has sort of helped out.”

Forget sounds of Enya, Katie wants her yoga instructor to be the next hot club DJ. “I wish that the music was pumping. I like yoga but I want to sweat at the same time, so I enjoy classes that are playing good music. It makes it fun.” Her playlist wish: Anything Rihanna and “Empire State of Mind” by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys. (You heard it here first, “Club Yoga” is going to be the new thing.)

And when it comes to staying fit, Katie’s a realist (which is quite refreshing). “Every time I got to the gym I want to give 140 percent and it’s just not going to happen, and that’s ok. Don’t try to push yourself to your limit every single day.”

Her must-have gym bag stash is a change of clothes. “It’s terrible walking out of the gym and feeling wet and gross.”
